The answer always makes me smile because it's the same reaction I've heard from customers for years.
"It feels like glass."
That's where the name came from.

Why don't you offer a satin version of Glass?
Glass was designed around one goal: remarkable clarity.
Through years of experimentation, I found that a crystal-clear high-gloss marine-grade finish best showcases the depth, grain, and chatoyancy created by the FireForged™ process.
While satin finishes certainly have their place, I don't feel they achieve the same level of clarity I'm looking for with Glass.
Rather than offering both, I chose the finish that best represents what Glass FireForged™ was created to be.
Can Glass FireForged™ be used outdoors?
Yes.
The marine-grade finish has excellent durability and weather resistance, making it well suited for many outdoor and covered outdoor projects.
Like nearly all clear finishes, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may gradually introduce a slight yellow tone over time.
Is this an epoxy finish?
No.
Glass FireForged™ uses a crystal-clear marine-grade spar urethane—not epoxy.
The result is exceptional protection, remarkable clarity, and a finish that preserves the FireForged™ character beneath it.
Production & Craftsmanship
Every Glass FireForged™ board is handcrafted to order.
Glass is one of the most demanding finishes I create.
Multiple carefully applied coats are built on all six sides of every board. Creating a crystal-clear, glass-like finish requires patience, precision, and careful attention to detail from beginning to end.
Creating this level of clarity simply can't be rushed.
Every coat is given the time it needs because the final result depends on it.
While the finishing process itself typically takes around two weeks after the FireForged™ process is complete, I schedule approximately three weeks for this stage of production. Wood finishing doesn't always happen on a perfect timetable, and I'd rather allow the finish the time it needs than compromise the final result.
When you're creating something that's meant to last for years, another week spent getting it right is time well invested.
Once complete, your piece is carefully packaged before leaving my shop.
